Boston Marathon (GIS 4048- Applications in GIS)

This next lab utilized the data previously created and processed. We focused on the Boston Marathon finish line from 2013, in which the bombing took place. Our task was to prepare critical structures along with possible surveillance points.

With the first map shown, there are ten hospitals within a three mile buffer. These are denoted as critical facilities closest in proximity to the finish line. There is also an inset map showing the proposed checkpoints in the neighboring streets to the finish line.

The second map portrays possible surveillance points along with their line of sight. In the raster, the green denotes visibility and red non visibility. The same is applied to the line of sight polylines. The graph displays the line of sight analysis for point fifteen, with the distance to elevation viewing possibilities.
