For this module, we did a spectral analysis on the Olympic Mountains, located in Washington State. After a few exercises looking at how to examine the different bands, we were tasked with creating three maps, identifying three features.
There were four steps used to accomplish this:
Feature 2. The snowy mountaintops.
Feature 3. Variation in water depth.
There were four steps used to accomplish this:
- Examine the histogram for shapes and patterns in the data.
- Visually examine the image as grayscale for light or dark shapes and patterns.
- Visually examine the image as multispectral, changing the band combinations to make certain features stand out.
- Use the Inquire Cursor to find the exact brightness value of a particular area.
Below are the three features found.
Feature 1. Deep water within the river channel.
Feature 2. The snowy mountaintops.
Feature 3. Variation in water depth.
