Own Your Map (GIS 4043/4043L- Intro to GIS)

This week's assignment Own Your Map focused on map elements and creating our own style and organization. The map presented is a geographic outline of Escambia County showing the location of the UWF main campus in relation to two major interstate highways. In a smaller window the state of Florida is displayed with the location of Escambia County highlighted in red. By owning my map I sought to keep map elements at a appropriate scale and position to be clearly visible while not being obtrusive. I want my maps to be clearly legible and it's purpose conveyed at a glance. It's nice to know that not everyone will create the same map and that liberty can be taken as long as the map conveys the appropriate information.
