Project Projections (GIS 4043/4043L- Intro to GIS)

The last week of September focused on projections. Admittedly I had difficulty this week, mostly in memorizing terms and wrapping my head around the concepts, almost as if my brain ran out of steam. Regardless, I pushed through and hopefully the results were satisfactory. The map shows Florida using three different projections, Albers, UTM 16, and State Plane North and focuses on four different counties. To show the difference between the projections used, a table was created with the square miles of each county per projection. From the table we can see the differences become more significant as we move further south. The conclusion can be made that depending on whether we need to focus on an individual county or the state as a whole, selecting the proper projection is important for the intended area.
